Cellular service industry has selected Long Term Evolution (LTE) compared to WiMax as the next generation of broadband connectivity technology. The claim was revealed by a senior executive Alcatel Lucent.
Patrick Plas, Chief Operating Officer for Alcatel Lucent Wireless says, his company no longer seek WiMax technology. As quoted in ZDNet, will launch LTE by companies like Verizon to show that the development chosen by the industry is toward LTE.
According Plas, LTE-based handsets will likely begin appearing in early 2011. However, carriers like Verizon is more interested in the data connectivity in the early stages of these technologies.
Still, interesting to look forward to information from the hardware manufacturers who still make and market WiMAX devices.
