First LTE Call on 800 MHz Band

Telecommunications service providers, Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) and Nokia, have recently made test calls the world's first LTE data at 80 MHz frequency band. Data call was conducted with Nokia Siemens Networks equipment commercially.

This spectrum known as the Digital Dividend, and will be available when the transfer of terrestrial TV from analogue to digital broadcasting. The success of these tests marks the progress of the commercialization of LTE in these bands, especially to accelerate the deployment in rural areas. Digital Dividend spectrum is considered ideal for providing broadband service to move fast and cost-effective.

Testing was conducted at the Head office LTE NSN Competence in Espoo, Finland, following the start of production with Multiradio LTE Flexi base station for 800 MHz band in April this year. The tests also complement previous testing with Nokia in the band 2100 MHz and 2600 MHz.
